I never thought that religion and travel could come together. I guess I was wrong. Recently, Lonely Planet came up with the top Islamic travel destinations through out the world. According to the Travel Islam, international visitors have been advised to check out Pakistan, Uzbekistan and even the trouble parts of the Middle East. Also, Kashmir is included in the list as well.
Even though there’s a U.S. State Department travel advisory for these countries/ regions, people are still visiting these parts to experience different culture and expand their knowledge. Well, if you are still curious about the dangers of these regions, here’s a brief glimpse.
In Uzbekistan, visitors are advised to be really vigilant in public places. Besides this travel advisory, there is also the danger of unexploded land mines busting right in front of the tourists. The Uzbek city of Bukhara, is one of the holiest cities of Central Asia.

In Northern Yemen, there’s a constant threat from the gunmen of the area. A similar warning exists for the visitors to India’s Kashmir area You never know when you might get abducted. The threats are of similar nature for Westerners in these countries.
But, irrespective of these threats, Lonely Planet’s Tom Hall advices people to explore these places. As a matter of fact, Hall thinks that traveling through the Islamic world can actually be fun. People don’t travel through the Islamic world because they are paranoid. I think if you open up a little more, you will see that these places are just regular tourist spots with some great things to do and awesome sight seeing. So, maybe in your next vacation you might want to consider Saudi Arabia.
