New Zealand’s busiest online auction site, Trade Me has taken a step forward to move into the travel market by launching its new travel website called Travelbug. The site allows users to search for and book accommodation within New Zealand.
Travelbug has signed up more than 1500 hoteliers and moteliers offering travelers more than 10,000 rooms across the country. Overnight accommodation on the site ranges from $25 to $1500 night, with the main focus being on family accommodation between $80 and $160 a night. Also, the site will enable the customers to check out other travelers experiences and provide their own ratings of accommodation providers.
Trade Me built Travelbug in partnership with Vianet International, a Keri-Keri based travel software and development company. Once the accommodation service beds down, the two companies plan to expand Travelbug into other areas including holiday homes and tourism activities.
